The Destination Wedding Studio Blog
When I decide I wanted to write a blog, I looked at many other wedding blogs to understand their concepts. I discovered that in most wedding blogs their context was about “pretty things” and in many instances selling something. This discovery not only lead me to what I wanted to discuss and share with you, but also my slogan “while others may plan the event … you need someone to watch over your heart”.
This evolved several years ago when my first daughter Megan got married. I realized that as an architect I always had an eye for detail and design, but I often stressed about heart issues; was she too young to get married; how were we going to keep 100 people happy and entertained; what was my mother going to say or do, as she thought weddings were silly and wasteful.
But weddings are supposed to be happy, so I just kept planning the event and somehow we muddled through it even though my 89 year old my mother- in- law was not allowed on the trolley with the rest of the family by my wedding planner because we had hit capacity so she had to wait…
My wedding planner was taking “care of the event”…but she forgot about the people…and after the wedding was over, and even though it was a joyous occasion, I asked myself what was missing??
It was then I realized it was that no one was watching over the “between things”, the heart issues!. Often, when I’m planning a wedding, there are little things, like grandparents that can’t walk in the sand or bigger things like moms and dads that don’t talk to each other or other in between things that really drive decisions and plans. Therefore, while I want to talk about pretty things, I also want to be real and talk about what really matters and always about the journey.
So here we go… lets really talk and discuss about design or what makes an interesting detail…but, I hope by reading along you will always feel the “heart” issue in every matter and that we can discuss looking at the in between things that will make your wedding day really special and also the foundation of a life long journey! …

Hi Peggy,
Hope you are well. I am looking forward to keeping up with your blog! Gene and I look back on our special day with just great memories and we owe so much to you for “taking care of our hearts!”
